I'm Mai (pronounced like "my"), the artist behind Mai Makeup & Hair.

I'm a Sacramento-based bridal makeup and hair artist, and since 2016, I've had the privilege of helping brides throughout Northern California get ready for one of the most meaningful days of their lives.

My approach to bridal beauty is simple: I want you to feel like yourself. Many of my brides don't wear a lot of makeup on a daily basis, and the last thing they want is to feel overdone on their wedding day. I focus on enhancing your natural features with timeless makeup and hairstyles that feel comfortable, photograph beautifully, and still look like you.

Over the years, I've come to realize that my role on a wedding day goes far beyond makeup and hair. I'm there for the little things too. Fixing a veil that won't stay put, holding a bouquet between photos, carrying your phone when you don't have pockets, helping with a dress train, or simply being a calm presence when the morning starts to feel overwhelming. Some of my favorite compliments from brides have nothing to do with makeup at all. They tell me how supported, cared for, and at ease they felt throughout the day, and that means everything to me.

I truly believe getting ready should be one of the most enjoyable parts of your wedding day. My goal is to create an experience that feels relaxed, organized, and personal, so you can spend less time worrying about the details and more time soaking in the moment.

When I'm not working with brides, I'm usually at home with my three dogs, one cat, and more fish than I probably need. I'm a big animal lover, a homebody at heart, and happiest spending time with my pets.
